The production of glass containers is growing. In 2001, the EU produced 17.82 million tons of glass containers - beverage bottles, food jars, and containers for pharmaceutics and cosmetics. Germany accounted for a quarter of the EU output and this equates to 17,622 million containers. Germany's production grew by 0.6% (100 million containers!) compared with the previous year's production.
Marketers of premium beverages and of cosmetics prefer to promote their brands through the visiul impact of screen printed images on their containers and glass containers convey a quality image.
Direct screen printing on glass is favoured when an upscale image is required as the durability of directly screen printed images will generally be better than that of adhesive labels.
Cosmetic companies demand sophisticated bottle decorations to differentiate their brands from the competition. Multi-colour decoration with extremely tight colour to colour registration has to create an appealing package when fairly standard shaped containers are used.Note de contenu : - Thermoplastic ceramic enamels
