Self-healing coatings, which autonomically repair and prevent corrosion of the underlying substrate, are of particular interest. Notably, the worldwide cost of corrosion has been year estimated to be nearly $300 billion per year. Recent studies on self-healing polymers have demonstrated repair of bulk mechanical damage as welI as dramatic increases in the fatigue life. Non-metallic (based on polymers or oxides) and metallic protective coatings are used to protect metal products against the harmful action of the corrosion environment Various approaches for achieving healing functionality encapsulation have been demonstrated, including reversible chemistry, networks, microvascular nanoparticle phase separation, poly-ionomers, fibres hollow and separation. monomer phase. The majority of these systems, however, have serious chemical and mechanical limitations, preventing their use as coatings. Modem engineered coatings are highly optimized materials in which dramatic modifications of the coating chemistry are unlikely to be acceptable. Here, we describe a generalized approach to self-healing polymer-coating systems, and demonstrate its effectiveness for both model and industrial ly important coating systems. Textiles et tissusIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The main objective of this work is to develop new nanocomposites to apply on the substrates of the leather and textile industry for seats of spaces and public vehicles. Specifically, we want to obtain a flame retardant effect using nanostructured coatings that confer thermal stability and fire resistance. The different nanomaterials should be included in a polymeric matrix ; the hybrid organic-inorganic polymers will act as carriers of the nanomaterials, with the ability to interact with the nanoparticles and walls of the nanocapsules. In addition, they must show affinity for the collagen, in order to be introduced in the three-dimensional structure of leather and fixing them on its surface, as well as interacting with the textile substrate. The flame retardant capacity of the two synthesised products has been achieved according to regulations UNE-EN 1021:06 part 1 and 2 and standard UNE 23723 : 1990.
Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Chemicals - Preparation of OL-loaded lipid-based capsules - Characterization of LNC-OL suspensions - Preparation and characterization of LNC-OL-loaded hydrogels

PolyacrylatesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Chitosan is a cationic polysaccharide with intrinsic antimicrobial properties that can be used as an ecological alternative to develop functional materials to inhibit the proliferation of microorganisms. This work evaluates chitosan nanocapsules (CNs) as a self-disinfecting agent to provide bactericidal activity on cotton fabrics (CF), using polyacrylate to bind the CNs on the CF surface. The fabrics were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle (CA), moisture retention, and antimicrobial tests against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. The FTIR results showed new peaks related to chitosan structure, indicating the adequate fixation of the CNs on the cotton fibers. SEM images corroborated the polyacrylate binder's efficient adhesion, connecting the CNs and the cotton fiber surface. The CF surface properties were considerably modified, while CN/polyacrylate coating promoted antibacterial activity against the B. subtilis (gram-positive bacteria) for the developed wipe, but they do not display bactericidal effects against E. coli (gram-negative bacteria). Titre : A smart anticorrosion coating based on hollow silica nanocapsules with inorganic salt in shells Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Dong Zhao, Auteur ; Dongguang Liu, Auteur ; Zhijia Hu, Auteur Année de publication : 2017 Article en page(s) : p. 85-94 Note générale : Bibliogr.

Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This work presents the synthesis of corrosion inhibitor [1H-benzotriazole (BTA)]-loaded hollow silica nanocapsules with magnesium hydroxide precipitate in the shells (HSNs-M/BTA) through inverse microemulsion (W/O) polymerization. TEM and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) measurements indicate that the silica nanocapsules possess voids in the inner part and mesoporous on the surface. The actual loading capacity of BTA is 287.17 mg (BTA)/1 g (HSNs-M/BTA). The results of UV absorption spectra show that the release of BTA can be triggered by the changing of pH in the corrosion solution. The anticorrosive SiOx/ZrOx coatings embedded with hydrophobically modified HSNs-M have a better waterproof performance since the water contact angle can reach 140°. In comparison to the passive SiOx/ZrOx coatings with or without BTA, the enhanced corrosion protection performance of this developed anticorrosive system was observed by both electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and Tafel analysis. The fabrication of nanocapsules with corrosion inhibitors is promising as an intelligent element in protective coatings in the future.
