In this study, the rotational time and rotational speed (in revolutions per minute [RPM]) were used as the control parameters, and the thickness differences between the actual and theoretical results were analyzed based on statistical analyses. Furthermore, we investigated the effects of the aging time (i.e., time after spin coating before heat treatment curing) independently from the parameters of the theoretical equation for spin coating of Newtonian fluids mentioned above. The thickness of the film formed by the spin coater within a period of 300 s was smaller than the theoretically predicted thickness at all rotation speeds irrespective of aging. Based on statistical analyses of the measured thickness values, we confirmed that rotational speeds in the range of 2000–6000 RPM within a period of 300 s did not yield thickness differences owing to aging time. However, below 1500 RPM, the thickness without aging time was smaller than the thickness with aging time. In addition, the thicknesses of the edge and center of the substrate were unequal but became uniform as the aging time increased. Additionally, the estimated thickness based on the constructed plots yielded completely different results from those predicted by the existing equation about Newtonian fluids. Based on the analyses of the thickness as a function of aging time and speed, we confirmed that the aging time—which was not accounted for in the conventional equation—was the parameter that primarily affected the thickness.

SynergieIndex. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : Amine ligand, as one of the essential components of the Ag–amine complex, is necessary to reduce the sintering temperature and time of conductive inks. Herein, we report the facile preparation of hybrid amine conductive silver ink, mainly composed of silver oxalate–hybrid amine complex and methanol–acetone solvent. The synergistic effect of long-chain and short-chain amines enhances the uniformity of silver nanoparticles in the silver film. A uniformly conductive silver film is obtained by spin-coating as-prepared ink on the polyimide film, followed by thermal sintering. Then, the influence of butylamine content and sintering parameters on the physical properties and microstructure of silver film is systematically investigated. The resistivity of silver films, sintered at 170 °C for only 20 min, is found to be 6.71 μΩ·cm, which is four times higher than bulk silver. In addition, silver films after bending and adhesion test exhibit low resistivity and excellent adhesion. These results indicate that the hybrid amine conductive silver ink can provide promising opportunities for fabricating highly conductive flexible printed electronics at low temperatures in short times. Revêtement par centrifugationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : We derive the lubrication form of the fluid mechanical equations governing the motion of a thin liquid film on an arbitrarily curved, rotating, axisymmetric substrate. The resulting equations are discretized and then solved numerically using an efficient implicit finite difference algorithm. Non-Newtonian effects are included by incorporating an Ellis viscosity model. The primary application for this work is to model the spin coating of the interior of two-piece metal beverage cans, and we consider this problem in some depth. Specifically, we show how adjusting several parameters can eliminate one possible defect in the spin coating process: the tendency for droplets to detach from the substrate when the can is spun at high rotation rates. Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this work we develop a numerical simulation of the spray coating of spinning beverage cans. Though the substrate of the can must be axisymmetric, the coating need not be. We start with an evolution equation, which was derived using scaling arguments and perturbation theory. We then use implicit finite differences and an ADI scheme, with periodic boundary conditions, to efficiently solve the problem numerically. The spray fan is modeled as an expanding ellipse, and we use parameters typical of the coating industry in our simulations. The simulations show that if the can rotates an exact integral number of rotations during the spray process, then the coating layer is almost axisymmetric. But when this cannot be achieved, then three-dimensional effects greatly change the coating dynamics of the thin liquid film and must be included in the analysis. Note de contenu : - Previous work

Tissu osseuxIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Magnesium (Mg) is widely used in different tissue engineering applications such as bone fracture fixations and cardiovascular stent applications. However, it exhibits high degradation properties in the physiological medium and hence loses its mechanical properties. Herein, AZ31 Mg alloy was spin-coated with polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer blended with Schiff base derived from amino acid as a corrosion inhibitor. Coated samples were characterized using field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. Additionally, corrosion behavior was evaluated using electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Moreover, the bioactivity of the studied samples was confirmed in vitro with MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts cells. Results show that coated samples with corrosion inhibition efficiency of blended PCL and L-isoleucine Schiff (PCL-SI) reached 66% compared to that of pure PCL 39%. This suggests that the introduced materials were superior to control biodegradability and biocompatibility of the bare alloy in bone tissue engineering application.
