Résumé : |
The environmental protection act became law in 1990. One of its provisions is the reduction of emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and other substances into the atmosphere. This became effective during 1992. Manufacturers of various products who use more than 100 metric tonnes of organic solvents a year will be affected by this legislation. This VOC legislation will influence not only the adhesive, but the method of its application and its impact on the immediate and general environment. These requirements seek to identify and register emission of VOC with ultimate aim of reducing total emission over next 5-10 years. In Europe it is expected that the industry should reduce solvent emission by 25 per cent by April 1 st, 1996 based on 1993 levels and by 50 percent by April 1 st, 1999. Unfortunately most industrial users are still ignorant of these issues and the effects of this legislation on their business. |
