Résumé : |
Pigment dispersion is the technique of incorporating a solid pigment phase within a liquid phase. The efficiency of dispersion is a key factor influencing both the performance and ultimate probability of a paint or printing ink formulation (1). With the increasing costs of pigments and energy, it makes economic sense to ensure both are used efficiently to achieve optimum tinctorial strengh per kilo of pigment with minimun energy consumption. THis publication gives details of the incorporation of some newly-designed surfactants from ICI into several tradional methods for the production of stable pigment dispersions in water The practical benefits that can accrue in the finished paints or printing inks are highlighted. |
