The removal of paint, coatings from various substrates has become a common place industrial operation for a number of reasons, viz. recovery of paint shop rejects, reconditioning items from service or repainting capital equipments. The paint binders play a decisive role in paint dissolution. A good paint remover must act quickly to swell and soften the paint film so that it can be readily removed by soft scraping or flushing with water. Additionally, it must be non-corrosive to the base metal and leave a surface which can be easily recoated. |
