The use of rheological modifiers in solvent-based paint manufacturing has been well documented over the last 30 to 40 years. These modifiers control the in-can properties of the paint as well as the application properties of the coating.
Basically, such additives prevent pigment settling and improve the in-can appearance of the paint, and provide ease of application, control of flow and sag resistance of the coating during application.
This paper will discuss two new approaches to the problem of theology, principally for the industrial coatings market segment:
1. An amide thixotropic additive.
2. Heat-resistant thixotropic resins. |
