Interpenetrating polymer networks are novel types of polymer blends. They possess excellent physical and chemical properties ideally suitable to be used in coatings. In this paper, the technology of IPNs is dealt in detail. The first part of this paper explains the IPNs and their classification in detail. The second part presents elaboratively the synthesis of IPNs, their physical and chemical properties, characterisation of IPNs via instrumentation, their use in coatings and possibilities of using IPNs as cold curing coatings materials with superiorcoatings properties. |
