Résumé : |
The performance of any organisation depends on the quality of its products and services. There is a worlwide trend towards more stringent customer expectations with regard to quality. Accompanying this trend has been a growing realisation that continual improvments in quality are often necessary to achieve and sustain good economic performance.
The greater the market share the higher is the profitability. Two ways to achieve higher profitability are - i) Price cutting ii) Quality
Price cutting is short lived as the competition invariability catches and matches lower price.
Most organisations whether industrial, commercial or governmental produce a product or service aimed at satisfying user's needs or requirements. Such needs incorporated in specifications. However, such technical specifications may not in themselves guarantee taht a customer's requirement will be consistently met if there happens to be any deficiencies in the specifications or in the organisational system to design and produce the product or service. Consequently, this has led to the development of quality system standard and guidelines that complement relevant product or service requirements given in the technical specifications. The series of International Standards ISO 9000 to ISO 9004 embodies a rationalisation of the many and various national approaches in this sphere.
ISO 9000 Quality Management System enables the manufacturer to provide a consistent product or service which shall meet the customer's every requirement in respect of product quality, timely delivery at a mutually agreed cost. The International Standards Organisation (ISO) published this system in March 1987 in six parts to cover three different situations of application. It is left to the manufacturer to select and adopt a particualr Quality Management System depending on his needs. |
