Gestion des ressources en eauIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A recent article by the UK Chartered Institute of Management Accounts highlighted the growing importance of water as a natural resource. They highlighted that 40 % of the world's population lives in moderate to high water stress areas. Theyalso published facts from the UN that indicated that 40 % of fortune 1000 companies described the effect a water shortage would have on their business as 'severe or catastrophic'.
Water, after the air that we breathe, is our next most precious commodity ; life cannot bu sustained without it. Tht total amount of water on earth has not changed ; the water our ancestors drank tousands of years ago is the same water that falls as rain today. However, with 83 million more people in the world each year the water demand will continue to increase.Note de contenu : - WATER SHORTAGE

Eaux usées -- Stations de traitementsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The chrome tanning process results in the discharge of chromium in the effluent, which is of major concern and calls for treatment. Currently practiced chrome management methodologies suffer from drawbacks such as high capital and operational costs, so there is a need for the development of a low cost methodology, using easily available materials that can remove chromium effectively.
Bacillus subtilis is widely used inthe commercial production of various enzymes, and in this study, dead B. subtilis biomass has been used for the removal of trivalent chromium. Availability and cost effectiveness are the two major factors to be taken into account while selecting the biomass. Advantages of using dead B. subtilis biomass mainly rest on the abundant availability of the source of biomass, which comes from the existing enzyme fermentation industries. Being a waste product makes B. subtilis a very cost effective biosorbent. Also, the use of dead cells in biosorption is most advantageous for waste water treatment in that the dead organisms are not affected by toxic wastes ; they do not require a continuous supply of nutrients and they can be regenerated and reused for many cycles. Dead cells may be stored or used for extended periods at room temperature without putrefaction.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v-xco1VGHDK9jQOWKP0ZWbqfI1SC1yR7/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=15623
