Résumé : |
The possibility of using high solids or aqueous binder for two pack polyurethane paints has made an important contribution to reducing the emission of organic solvent s during paint manufacturing and application. Given the appropriate drying conditions, the physical properties of high solids and aqueous two pack polyurethane paints are comparable with thoses of conventional two pack polyurethane paints. The new systems can be used in industrial finishing, provided the application conditions and machinery are correctly matched. With sutomers insisting on high quality environmentally friendly products, these new high solids and aqueous polyurethane coatings will emerge as the ultimate choice. Developments in the field of new isocyanates and co-reactants will further increase the possibility of producing high solids systems designed to meet lower VOC requirements, while maintaining or improving the performance properties. Progress il also expected to be made in the development of two components water borne polyurethane systems with reduced VOC contents.
Polyurethane powders are also finfing much use ine the decorative segment because of its excellent exterior durability. The latest development in the polyurethane chemistry i.e polyurea is also finding acceptability due to their excellent aprasion, chemical and resistance corrosion properties. Considering the various options available in the polyurethane polymer technology, it can be said that polyurethanes are the coatings of the future. |
