Titre : Scratch resistance of UV coatings : influence of chemistry Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Stefan Smeets, Auteur ; Indrajit Bhattacharya, Auteur ; Tania Lermytte, Auteur Année de publication : 2004 Article en page(s) : p. 85-94 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Organic coatings are very susceptible towards contact with hard objects, i.e. they are subject to maring and scratching. Scratched surfaces are not only less decorative and because of that have less value, but their protective effect is reduced too. Scractches are wek points where the system is open to attack. Corrosion can begin there, or if the substrate is deformed the coating will tear or even release from the substrate. Note de contenu : - Resins

Titre : UV coatings for plastics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Stefan Smeets, Auteur ; Egbert Boerrigter, Auteur ; Stephan Peeters, Auteur Année de publication : 2004 Article en page(s) : p. 42-48 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Rapid curring, no or very low VOC content, high performance properties - UV-technology offers a number of advantages. On plastics, through, UV curable coatings have been difficult to achieve, mainly because of inferior adhesion to the substrate compared to solvent borne systems. Optimisation of existing binder/reactive diluent systems, however, can provide coatings for plastics with very good performances. Initially these benefits could only be enjoyed in factory-applied applications due to the nature of the UV curing equipment required. During the past decade, however, significant developments in portable UV curing technology have made field-applied, UV-curable coatings possible.
For the wood flooring industry, factory-applied coatings are typically UV-cured due to the advantages described above. while initially 100% solids formulations, UV-curable polyuréthane dispersions in water (UV-(PUD), introduced in the late 1990s, provide improved flexibility, adhesion and stain resistance and with lower viscosities and low-VOC content are attractive for spray, curtain and vacuum applications on to wood.
Field-applied, wood floor coatings, until recently however, have required conventional curing, polyurethanes (PU) are the leading type of field-applied floor coatings. Others include conversion varnishes, oils and waxes. Today,j however, there are several UV-curable wood floor coatings in varying stages of commercial development, including 100% solids and waterborne formulations.Note de contenu : - ADAPTING TO FIELD CONDITIONS
