Résumé : |
The acute shortage coupled with tremendous increase in cost of various solvents used by paint industry and pollution becoming serious concern has resulted in intensive study of water based coatings. The chemical modification of liquid epoxy polymer with bisphenol-A was carried out. The water soluble epoxy polymers were made from phthalic anhydride, phthalic-anhydride and trimellitic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and maleopimaric acid and maleopimaric acid alone, separately by using chemical modified epoxy polymer prepared earlier. The pigmentation of water soluble epoxy polymer based on phthalic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and trimellitic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and maleopimaric acid, -and maleopimaric acid alone was done using red oxide and zinc phosphate. The methylated melamine formaldehyde polymer was prepared and used as curing agent. Thereafter, electrodepositable pigmented coating compositions were prepared and they were studied for different mechanical and chemical film properties after electrodeposition. It may be used in surface coatings where good mechanical and chemical properties are required. |
