Résumé : |
The automotive OEM sector is always on the look-out for a better proposition in order to cater to the customers needs. The industry is always demanding certain requirements from the paint manufacturer to comply to the market demands. The paint manufacturer thus is always on the look-out for newer systems, which can outdo the conventional systems, and equip himself to meet the propositions of the industry. One such option is the use of Cellulose Acetate Butyrates (CAB). CABs are known to the paint manufacturer and are used extensively in lacquers and varnishes for their excellent drying properties, durability and as an additive for imparting certain properties. The use of CABs as pigment dispersion media stands relatively unexploited. The feasibility of CABs in the dispersion process requires an in-depty analysis. An approach to this concept has been made in the paper. The paper contains an analysis of CAB as a pigment dispersion media, its merits and demerits as against the conventional dispersing media. |
