The powder coating field has grown today to a very large extent. From the first commercial breakthrough for powder coating in 1961, the area of powder coating has constant developments and upgrading, in terms of chemical and process technology. The paper will discuss the manufacturing techniques in powder coatings, specifically new generation powder coatings with specific properties, the selection of various raw materials for the manufacture of Polyesters, Epoxies, Acrylic, various hybrids, UV and EB curable powder coatings. The paper will also discuss the process technology, chemical compositions, compounding methods, machineries and variety of newer applications, along with the trouble shootings.
