The key factors that determine the quality of a spray-coated layer are the size (order of a few microns in diameter) and dimensional uniformity of droplets in the spray and the droplet impact velocity. For many applications, coating quality is strongly dependent on the method and equipment used during the application process. This paper presents the development of a decoupled system for spray coating and micro-printing, which includes an ultrasonic spray generation device and a nozzle for the spray deposition independently operated. Design and development of the system as well as testing for different applications are presented in this paper. The system design can be potentially used for large area coating, such as windows and solar panels, as well as micro-printing of electronic circuits and numerous other applications. The process from the liquid film flow beneath the bell, through ligament formation and consecutive disintegration to droplet deposition, has been constantly explored during the evolution of automotive spray coating. This work proposes a set of dimensionless groups that fully describe the process from film flow to ligament disintegration, including shear and elongational flow effects during atomization of particle laden, shear thinning, viscoelastic fluids. Système de pulvérisation (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : If you believe that the selection of guns or bells for your coating application technology is based solely on atomization and transfer efficiency, you are only considering half of the picture. In this paper, we examine some little-known facts about guns and bells — things that your supplier never told you — and how these "secrets" affect the application of waterborne, solventborne, and UV-cure coatings, specifically with regard to surface finish. We distill these factors into practical guidelines to help you select the best applicator for your project so that you may more than double your chances to obtain your desired finish results with high first-pass yields and minimal finish-related rejects. Système de pulvérisation (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Atomization plays a crucial role in spray coating processes. The liquid paint is broken up to small droplets and accelerated to the work piece. A conflict of goals is appearing here : a high quality of the layer requires usually a fine atomization, but small droplets can lead to enhanced overspray. Discussions regarding the use of other atomization gases than air shall be focused to a systematic base in this article. Note de contenu : - Goal of a perfect atomization
