Taguchi Statistical Technique has been used to reduce the process cycle time of high solids-high viscosity alkyd. Monoglycerolysis (MG) catalyst, esterification catalyst, addition of free fatty acid and pre-prepared monoglyceride and antioxidant are considered as the critical factors which can affect the process cycle time. These factors are studied at different levels using the L-8 model. The statistical technique - Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) - has been used to analyse the outcome of each experiment. Anti oxidant and MG catalyst affect the colour and drying time of alkyd resin, and therefore the effect of anti-oxidant and MG catalyst has also been critically analysed through this model. |
