Present trends in the utilisation of CNSL are its use as an alternative indigenous source for phenol in the production of epoxy resins, in the production of surface active agents and it insecticides and fungicides after chlorination. Coatings based on CNSL were prepared from hexamine. These coatings were evaluated for their various physical, chemical and mechanical properties. These resins are less expensive than the conventional resins. Because of the dark colour, their use can be restricted to industrial coatings where colour is not important but cost and protection are important factors for selection. |
