Shukla, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 35-40 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Esterified epoxy-amine adducts with linseed fatty acids were prepared by reacting epoxy-amine-adduct and linseed fatty acids in different proportions. The used epoxy-amine adduct was synthesized from epoxy resin and diethanol amine in molar ratio 1:1. The pigmented coating compositions for cathodic electrodeposition were prepared by using different esterified epoxy-amine adducts with linseed fatty acids, separately. Film properties of cathodic electrodeposited coating compositions were studied and it was found that the coating compositions having 10% and 15% esterified epoxy- amine adducts showed good film properties. Titre : Fire propagation index of lining materials : Effect of intumescent coating Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : A. A. Ansari, Auteur ; Harpal Singh, Auteur ; B. B. Lal, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 41-46 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fire performance characteristics of lining material used in building are of considerable significance from life safety point of view. The Fire Propagation Index can be used to identify the likely fire hazard of lining materials in terms of their tendency to contribute to the growth of fire inside the buildings. A material of higher Fire Propagation Index is considered to contribute more towards the growth of fire. Thus, by comparison of the Fire Propagation Indices of different materials for the interior of a building, it is possible to identify the fire safe materials. Experimental investigations have been made to assess the Fire Propagation Index of untreated and intumescent coated particle board, plywood and fibre board. The salient results obtained during experimental investigation and the suitability of these materials from fire safety point of view are discussed. Titre : Studies on corrosion protective epoxidised oil modified DGEBA epoxy paint Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Sharif Ahmad, Auteur ; S. M. Ashraf, Auteur ; Abul Hasnat, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 47-52 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Epoxy resins are the class of polymers which find application in composites, primers, coatings and paints. However, epoxy-polyamide paints show low impact resistance, high degree of brittleness, low fracture toughness and fail to give a satisfactory performance under severe chemical/corrosive environment. With a view to improve these properties of epoxy paints, the DGEBA epoxy resin was modified with epoxidised oil. The different blend ratios of DGEBA-LOE-PA were evaluated for flexibility, scratch hardness, drying time and resistance to humid environment by standard methods. The optimized resin system was used to formulate a paint, and its performance was compared with the conventional epoxy polyamide paints. Epoxidised oil modified DGEBA paints system as developed was found to show far improved physico-mechanical and anticorrosive properties than the conventional DGEBA-PA paints. Its resistance to chemical was also found to be better than its conventional counterpart. This paint system replaces part of DGEBA, a petroleum based product, by a vegetable oil based epoxy, which not only makes it cost effective, but enhances the utility of this system, as a product from a renewable resource is being used in it. Titre : Synthesis and properties of imidazole-blocked diisocyanates Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : S. Subramani, Auteur Année de publication : 2002 Article en page(s) : p. 61-70 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Imidazole-, 2-methylimidazole-, and benzimidazole-blocked hexamethylene diisocyanate and isophorone diisocyanate were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and NMR spectroscopy. The structure-property relationship of these adducts has been established by reacting with hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB). The cure rate of the adduct increases from the imidazole to 2-methylimidazole and to benzimidazole blocked adduct. Also, the cure rate of the adducts based on hexamethylene diisocyanate is higher than those based on isophorone diisocyanate. Simultaneous TGA/ DTA results also confirm this trend. The gas chromatogram of the imidazole blocked isocyanate confirms that thermolysis products are blocking agents and isocyanate. The solubility of the adducts were carried out in polyether and hydrocarbon polyols, and it was found that the 2-methylimidazole and benzimidazole-blocked hexamethylene diisocyanate adducts show higher solubility than the rest.
