Polyesterimides offer a class of resins which combine the advantage of high temperature stability with ease of processability. Polybasic acids separated from gum rosin were treated with amino benzoic acid and then with diethylene glycol to form such polymer. The solubility characteristics, solubility parameters, solution viscosity behaviour, density, crystallinity and thermal properties of these polymers were discussed. Some generalizations about structure-property relationship in polyesterimides were also made. |
