Titre : UV-curable powder coating - A new hope Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : A. K. Panda, Auteur ; A. K. Srivastava, Auteur Année de publication : 2000 Article en page(s) : p. 39-41 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A radiation curable binder system for powder coating based on maleate-vinyl ether chemistry has been a reality and it is expected to break the monopoly of PU and TSA in heat sensitive substrates. The binder system consists of an unsaturated polymer and a vinyl ether polyurethane. Curing is a two step process – first heating the substrate upto 100°C for melting and flowing of paint and subsequent UV exposure for cross linking reaction, the whole process takes less than two minutes time. Note de contenu : - Chemistry : Free radical initiated UV-cure – Cationic UV cure – Pigmented coatings

Titre : Merits and demerits of CAB as a pigment dispersing vehicle in automotive coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : K. S. Samuel, Auteur ; Henry Sequeira, Auteur Année de publication : 2000 Article en page(s) : p. 43-48 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The automotive OEM sector is always on the look-out for a better proposition in order to cater to the customers needs. The industry is always demanding certain requirements from the paint manufacturer to comply to the market demands. The paint manufacturer thus is always on the look-out for newer systems, which can outdo the conventional systems, and equip himself to meet the propositions of the industry. One such option is the use of Cellulose Acetate Butyrates (CAB). CABs are known to the paint manufacturer and are used extensively in lacquers and varnishes for their excellent drying properties, durability and as an additive for imparting certain properties. The use of CABs as pigment dispersion media stands relatively unexploited. The feasibility of CABs in the dispersion process requires an in-depty analysis. An approach to this concept has been made in the paper. The paper contains an analysis of CAB as a pigment dispersion media, its merits and demerits as against the conventional dispersing media. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As the auto-refinishing business has been observed to have potential equivalent to OEM paint, the paint manufacturers in India and the rest of the world are concentrating on the auto-refinish market. With the growing market conditions, there are a lot of developments taking place to make refinishing paint perform almost equivalent to OEM paint. The environmental pollution due to VOC is the major concern for the future refinishing painting systems. The refinishing paints in India in the past, present and future have been discussed. Titre : Printings inks : a basic primer Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Mohd. Ali A. Zafar, Auteur Année de publication : 2000 Article en page(s) : p. 69-74 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : The aim of this article is to study the various aspects of printing inks for high demand of prints in publication, packaging and decoration.
The ink technologist, ink formulator, must understand the basic concept of the inks while formulating any type of inks. Only if the formulator studies and shows more concern to the end use and he can prescribe the formulation to specific use on desired substrates.
First of all he must study the various types of processes of printing, the types of printing inks used in above processes, the substrates used for printing, rheology/viscosity of inks for printing process at press level, (specially in liquid inks) and the drying process of inks on stock or substrate.Note de contenu : - THE PROCESS OF PRINTING
