Résumé : |
Hybridisation technique offers the advantage of each component, used for hybridisation, contributing its individual benefit to the overall system. The present work is focussed on use of hybrid chemistry in development of resins for improved performance. Silicones exhibit excellent weatherability because of its strong chemical bond and hydrophobic properties. Here a silicon-carbon hybrid chemistry is applied to develop siloxane modified acrylic resins for 2K polyurethane coating system. Acrylic resins were developed with built- in siloxane linkages, which are introduced by hybridizing acrylic polymer with polysiloxanes. Resins were characterised and evaluated in 2K polyurethane system as against conventional acrylic resin. Biuert type polyisocyanate is used as a crosslinker. Effect ofsiloxane content of resin and its correlation to various coating parameters were studied. Remarkable improvement in gloss retention, Tensile strength, % elongation and adhesion on different substrates without affecting the other properties was seen. |
