Résumé : |
Scientists are increasingly looking towards nature to provide the key to solvingsome of our technological problems, leading to a newly emerging science termed 'Biomimetics'. Paint technolbgists too are refocusing on natural biological systems to borrow principles and mechanisms from nature and transferring these to conventional paint systems leading to innovative Biomimetic coatings. These coatings mimic the physical, chemical or physiological characteristics of biological systems. Such paints would behave like the natural component when exposed to the same environmental challenges and would have improved performance or novel properties for future industry needs that are not possible with conventional paint systems alone. Biomimetic coatings represent one of the latest developments in paint technology and promises to be an interesting field of study. |
