Résumé : |
Guar gum refers to a galactomannan polysaccharide extracted from the seed of cyamopsis tetragonoloba. Hydroxyethyl derivative of Galactomannan *(HEG) are synthesized by the etherification reaction with nonionic ethylene oxide reagent with Galactomannan gum. Such modification greatly improve some specific properties of unmodified Galactomannan like electrolyte compatibility, stability, solubility, and the rheological characteristics in context to their utilization in waterborne paints. In the present study, various grades of HEG were employed to prepare water based paints. The waterbased paints were also prepared from conventional rheology modifiers based on cellulose derivatives. The comparative study of these reveals very interesting findings in HEG based paints compositions. |
