Organic coatings are very susceptible towards contact with hard objects, i.e. they are subject to maring and scratching. Scratched surfaces are not only less decorative and because of that have less value, but their protective effect is reduced too. Scractches are wek points where the system is open to attack. Corrosion can begin there, or if the substrate is deformed the coating will tear or even release from the substrate. |
