Résumé : |
The development of polyurethane coatings is probably a never-ending story. In many of today's high performance coatings applications, polyurethanes are the systems of choice owing to their unique combination of flexibility and high chemical and mechanical resistance. Of any coatings system, polyurethanes offer the widest range of possible properties. Demands on the quality of coatings are rising constantly, where improved performances are boeing sought. This is particularly true in automotive and wood applications. On the other hand, the relatively high costs of polyurethane coatings remain an issue. THey have to be justified by their performance. Due to VOC issues, a further emphasis is currently under development of waterorne and solvent-free polyurethane systems on the one hand, and on finding new curing mechanisms on the other. In the recent past, intensive research has been carried out and still is, to improve both polyurethane raw materials and formulations. |
