High temperature coatings based on titanium rosinate and aluminum pigment were prepared and evaluated for their heat resistant properties. The coatings were found to sustain the temperature upto 800°C . Titanium rosinateswere prepared by reacting rosin and titanium dioxide at 230°C. Three different compositions were studied. Titanium rosinates, thus prepared, were used to make varnish & then pigmented with aluminum pigment in 1:1 ratio by weight. The pigmented titanium rosinate coatings burned off completely at & above 500°C leaving behind aluminium / titanium complex coatings. These complex coatings have shown excellent adhesion and scratch hardness. |
