Résumé : |
Due to increasing stringency in environmental regulations, there is lot of pressure on coating manufacturers to reduce VOC's of coatings. Waterbased coating technology is regarded as the technology to fulfill this requirement. However the inferior performance of conventional waterbased technologies has been a major roadblock in the acceptance of these products in the furniture and industrial wood coating segment. The recent advances made in waterbased coating technology has resulted in the extensive development of coatings based on polyurethane dispersions, alkyd emulsions, 2 pack polyurethane dispersions and UV curable dispersions, which are reducing the gap between performance of water based and solvent based coatings. These coatings have opened up new avenues for their usage in the wood coating segment. |
