Tannage Résumé : In part I of this paper, the influence of wet blues on the reproducibility of aniline dyeings was discussed. The present paper shows the influence of the following parameters on the intensity and levelness of shades :
- Floatlength during retannage
- Temperature during retannage
- Floatlength during dyeing
- Temperature during dyeing
- The physical form of the duestuff before addition
- Running time during fixation with formic acid
Every variation of one of the parameters above was studied using a retannage with a pronounced bleaching effect, a retannage with a low bleaching effect, and two dyestuffs with different build-up properties on retanned leathers.
Results : Short floats and low temperatures in retanning result in dyeings of deeper shades. Variation of the same parameters in the dyeing process gave reversed results. The intensity of a shade is increased by the addition of the dyestuff in dissolved form or as a liquid dye. Variations in retanning and dyeing processes can be compensated better by using a less bleaching retannage and dyeing in steps with a dyestuff having good build-up properties.Note de contenu : - INFLUENCE OF RETANNING AND DYEING PROCESSES ON ANILINE :

Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The trend to produce more aniline leathers even from inferior rawstock has existed for years and is still continuing. In the meantime, all types of leather ranging from shoe-upper leather through fancy leather to upholstery leather are involved in this trend. Since coverage of grain damage by finishing is possible to only a limited extent for aniline leathers, the levelness of aniline dyeings has become even more important. The uniformity from skin to skin within a batch of leather to be dyed is of equal importance.
Even if the same processing procedure and the same chemicals are used, differences in depth and levelness of shade may often occur from drum to drum.
The question now arises as to which factors are responsible for these variations. In our investigations into this matter, we have concerned ourselves with the influence of the wetblues on aniline dyeings. We studied the influence of wetblues under varying conditions by changing the important parameters to such an extent as may occur in daily practice.
The five parameters that were varied consisted of temperature an pH value of the chrome liquors as well as storage time, water content and shaved thickness of the wetblues.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vaM5GcxG3lLl_0wV7NEdhLy-7OX8tlCK/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8478

The general idea was twofold :
1. To show how the producer can guarantee consistant quality by a thorough process control, and
2. To explain two versatile inexpensive test methods, which can be used by everyone.Note de contenu : - Control of quality of dyestuffs during manufacture

In the seventies, the effluent problems were of topical interest. In the heighties, the discussions have concentrated more and more on subjects concerning air pollution. The problems of environmental protection have thus shifted from the beamhouse to the finishing department. Requirements of the government agencies are,to a great extent, already in existence. Enforcement of these regulations will make the use of lacquers based on oganic solvent difficult in the future. This means that the traditional finishing system has to be changed completely. Waterborne coatings have therefore to be used for finishing and top coating leather. However, the question is whether this will be possible without impairing the physical properties and the appearance of the finished leather.
Before we discuss this question, let us first take a look at the improvements we can achieve with existing technology. Let us consider a tannery finishing 2000 sides a day using two top coats based on nitrocellulose. These top coats can be applied to the leather in four different ways. They can be sprayed or printed as a nitrocellulose lacquer or they can be sprayed or printed as a lacquer emulsion. Table I shows the approximated amounts of solvents emitted.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WXdsQbn9fi4T8LAzh9MlsKftJEp-5T5D/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8846
