Nanotechnology is considered to be one of the most important future technologies that will redesign the future of several technologies, products and markets. Because of its potential to change fundamentally whole field of technology, it will not only influence the technological development in near future but will also have decisive economic, ecological and social implications.
The term nano has become a buzzword in all industries. Coating industry is also not an exception for this. In order to achieve many herculean tasks in coatings a radically different approach is needed and nanotechnology is looked upon as a good weapon for this.
Various nanoscale materials are available for coatings. These materials said to have unique and potentially valuable properties in comparison to larger than nanoscale materials. Of these materials, nanosize titanium dioxide is of great interest because it exhibits many modified optical and electronic properties as well as many extensive coatings applications. |
