Titre : The interaction between collagen and aldehyde-acid copolymer/MMT nano-composite Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Yan Bao, Auteur ; Jianzhong Ma, Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : p. 53-58 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : An aldehyde-acid copolymer/MMT nano-composite [P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite] was prepared via monomer in-situ polymerization. Then the nano-composite was applied in a leather tanning process and the leather structure was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The reaction mechanism between P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite and collagen fibres was investigated. P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite has excellent dispersing properties for collagen fibres.
The tanning mechanism of P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite is that, the carboxyl groups of nano-composite are combined with the amino-groups of collagen side chains by electrovalent bonds and the aldehyde groups of nano-composite are linked with the amino groups of collagen side chains by covalent bonds.
The reactivities of the active groups of polymer can be improved by incorporating nano-particles. The tanning fucntion of P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite is the combined result of nano-particles and polymer. In the combined tanning process of P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite with a chrome tanning agent, theP(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite is firstly united with collagen as above. Then the carboxyl groups of the P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite enter the chrome complex and coordinate with chrome. A crosslinking network is formed between P(MAA-AL)/MMT nano-composite, chrome tanning agent and collagen fibres.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lwyMiWdGFx1VT__PKuMAzKSGz3i-vkcG/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9180

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In the leather industry, shrinkage temperature (Ts) is determined by the IUP 16 method. However, only microanalytical techniques like the Microscopic Hot Table (MHT) method are appropriate for the Ts of leather objects of historical value. No more than 0.1-0.4 mg of samble is needed for the test. The precision and accuracy of the MHT method were investigated taking the official IUP 16 method as a reference. It was concluded that the Ts determined by both methods are in good agreement. The MHT method is precise ans sensitive enough to state that small changes of 1.3°C detected in Ts are stastistically significant. The method was successfully applied to determine the Ts of several artefacts of the Leather Museum of Igualada. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Alkali and neutral salt treatment, especially in liming is a key procedure in order to achieve a good quality of leather. However, liming creates sludge and wastewater which are difficult to process. To find a clean replacement for lime we need to know the properties of skin after alkali and neutral salt treatment. Collagen fibre and cattle hide are treated in alkali-neutral salt solutions. Collagen fibre will be swelled in alkali solutions in its axial directions. Sodium sulphate in high concentration depresses collagen fibre's swelling rate in alkali solutions, but sodium chloride does not have this effect. Hydrolyzates in alkali and neutral salt solutions are composed mostly of degraded collagen, having lost its characteristic collagen triple-helical conformation. Neutral salt may inhibit the cleavage of the salt bridges of collagen fibre in alkali solutions which will enhance its physical properties such as tensile strength. Tannage Résumé : The interaction between vegetable extracts (tara and mimosa) and synthetic phenolic retanning agents, one of them of the polyhydroxyphenol type especially developed for this study, with two fatliquoring agents of different oxidisability in relation to temperature is studied. Different properties such as : leather colour variation, shrinkage temperature and chromium VI formation after subjecting the leather samples to the temperature test have been considered. Moreover, those retanning agents with the highest anti-oxidant capacity have been selected for study, by means a "Simplex-Centroid" experimental design, of their influence on different organoleptic and physical properties of the treated leather.
The vegetable retanning agents (tara and mimosa) inhibit the formation of free radicals so that the oxidation of unsaturated fatliquoring agents is avoided as well as chromium VI formation. The retanning agent of the polyhydroxyphenol type acts as an efficient antioxidant showing good temperature fastness.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FyW7zTRZi47OV-YjJ90iuKM_-Bj-XsYj/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9183

Titre : Waterborne polyurethane/O-MMT nanocomposites for flame retardant leather finishing Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zhang Xiuli, Auteur ; Chen Yi, Auteur ; Haojun Fan, Auteur ; Bi Shi, Auteur Année de publication : 2010 Article en page(s) : p. 77-83 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and 3-aminopropyltriethoxy-silane (APTES) were used as modifiers to prepare a reactive and organophilic montmorillonite (O-MMT), then from this waterborne polyurethane (WPU/O-MMT nanocomposite dispersions for leather flame retardant finishing were prepared through in-situ intercalation polymerization. Qualitative evidence of the presence of chemically-attached APTES on O-MMT is confirmed by FT-IR and an exfoliated structure of O-MMT in WPU matrix is confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The SEM analysis reveals that the O-MMT platelets are homogeneously dispersed throughout the polymer matrix when the O-MMT content is lower than 4wt%, whereas over 4wt%, inhomogeneous dispersion of the O-MMT platelets is observed. Performance study indicates that the incorporation of O-MMT,on one hand, is capable of enhancing the thermal stability and mechanical properties of WPU efficiently ; on the other hand, enhancing the flame retardancy of finished leathers. From the analysis of vertical flame and oxygen index (OI) test, the nanocomposite with 4wt% O-MMT loading shows the optimum flame retardant effect, the OI value increases by 3.6 units. Its engineering has developed through some 250 years from the mid seventeen hundreds into a computer controlled precisely engineered tool. This story endeavours to trace its progress from early attempts to mechanise manual splitting to an industrial machine tool.
