Résumé : |
Organic-inorganic hybrid coatings have recently shown new and promising properties. Applications may be found in the area of protective coatings, e.g. corrosion resistant, scratch and wear resistant materials combined with high photostability and in the area of materials with improved barrier properties as well. The industrial coating market is undergoing substantial changes due to environmental regulations, where cost-effective nanoparticle modified coatings could represent competitive products. This paper presents the applications of polybranched hybrid organic-inorganic coatings. Nanoparticle based dispersions made by sol-gel method have been prepared and the particles surface was modified to suit mixing with a variety of polymer materials. By a suitable choice of raw materials, stabilisers, coating forming additives and other types of additives could be prepared. Such stabilisers or other additives give a broader application range than what is the case for known mono functional stabilisers and can be used in lacquers, paints, curable plastics and thermoplastics. The various applications of these products will be illustrated for wear resistance, photostability, barrier layers and additives for retarding degradation. |
