Résumé : |
Hybrid polymers are novel type of polymers for paint and the coating industry. This is one of the initial technologies, which is now coming in to focus due to advantages it is offering. Hybrid is a mixture of the different type of the polymers, which on in-situ mixing gives polymer with altogether different properties of the final polymer as compared to parent polymers. Acrylic- alkyd hybrid which, have better drying properties was described. In the hybrid polymers the associative interaction like hydrogen bonding have the incremental effect in improving the property. Interpenetrating polymer network is also one type of hybrid polymer where there is no chemical interaction between the polymers. Different type of the IPN's and resin modification was discussed. A new promising non-isocynate hybrid coating which give excellent hydrolytic stability was investigated. Inorganic modification of epoxy, polyester, oil, improves thermal, mechanical and corrosion resistance properties were discussed. Finally use of the hybrid polymer for powder coating was explored. |
