Résumé : |
Extenders today are very seldom used solely as cheapeners. Their morphology, surface treatment, surface characteristics and nano size have strengthened their applications in almost all the coatings: clear to pigmented, primer to finish, water based to solvent based, architectural to industrial etc. Even in high gloss finishes they are occupying a key ingredient position. The extenders cover a broad range of particle shape and size and also surface activity which control the functional, mechanical and aesthetic properties of a coating. This paper highlights the role of these specific properties in the coatings which of course can not be overlooked in their end product. |
