The use of ultrasound in textile wet processing is one way for this purpose. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of ultrasonic energy on processing of cotton with nonionic softener. For this purpose, cotton fabric was treated with a nonionic fatty acid amide derivative softener in an ultrasonic bath. The physical properties of the fabrics treated with softener were compared with that treated in a conventional bath. As the results show, the treatment of fabrics with softeners in an ultrasound bath is more effective compared to a conventional method and it enhances the physical properties of cotton. However, most of the phosphate deposits contain carbonate impurities, which deteriorate the flotation selectivity using sodium oleate. In this paper, the amenability of the carbonate separation from a sedimentary phosphate ore through bio-flotation process, as a one of various efforts to solve the carbonate problem, was tested. The interaction of two types of bacteria (Corynebacterium-diphtheriae-intermedius, CDI, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, PA) with sodium oleate was investigated. The interaction between collector and bacteria was determined by Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) measurements, zeta potential before and after adsorption of bacteria, as well as frothing power. The results showed that bio-flotation could produce a phosphate concentrate of 0.85 % MgO and 30.2 % P2O5 with a recovery of 92 % at pH 5.5, 1.25 kg/t sodium oleate, ≥ 1 × 108 cells of CDI bacteria. The specification of such concentrate could not be obtained by the conventional flotation experiments, in absence of bacteria, under similar conditions. This means that bacteria could play a significant role as a surface modifier due to its selective adsorption onto the mineral surface as well as its interaction with collector. Sulfonates d'alkylbenzèneIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : An on line SPE (solid-phase extraction) method followed by HPLC with fluorescence detection has been developed and validated for determining the LAS in inlet and outlet effluents of wastewaters treatment plants. Filtered effluent samples were on line concentrated on a small polymeric reversed phase column, then the trapped LAS are separated on a specialty polar-embedded reversed-phase column and detected by a fluorimeter. The on line SPE method with fluorescence detection showed very good repeatability (from 1.5 to 11.7 % depending on the sample loading volume) and robustness with detection limits of 1.5 µg l-1 for total C10-13 LAS loading a 5 ml sample volume. This automated method is a cost-effective way to determine LAS also in routine monitoring of inlets and outlets of wastewater treatment plants allowing to optimize treatment procedures. This work describes the foam height related experimental results carried out according to the Ross Miles test where either the anionic concentration and water hardness have been varied alternatively. The experimental results obtained indicate that [Anionic]/[Ca2+] ratio strongly influences foam height and that phi-MES C16 is superior to LAS and SAS. The extraction process is based on the formation of the hydrophobic complex of copper(II)-H2L, which is subsequently extracted into the non-ionic surfactant-rich phase of p-octylpolyethyleneglycolphenylether (Triton X-100) at a temperature above the cloud point temperature (CPT). The phase diagrams of the binary system, water-surfactant (Triton X-100), and of the ternary systems, water-surfactant-salt (Na2SO4), were examined. The effects of the main experimental parameters such as pH, extractant concentration and non-ionic surfactant concentration on the extraction process of copper(II) were studied. The extraction yield was found to be significantly depending on the aqueous solution pH. Copper(II) was extracted with H2L and Triton X-100 in the pH range of (3–12). From the equilibrium slope analysis method, it was suggested that the stoichiometry of the extracted complexes have a composition of 1:1 (Cu:H2L). The optimum conditions of the extraction of copper(II) have been established as the following: (1) 2 × 10–3 M extractant; (2) 5 % (m/v) surfactant ; (3) pH of 7.2 ; (4) 7 % (m/v) Na2SO4 and (5) temperature of 65°C. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Surfactants Tags : Cellulose Enzyme cellulase Celluclean Cellophane Topographie Morphologie Porosité Index. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : In this study, modification effects of cellulose foil by cellulase enzyme are studied in respect to topography changes by means of atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results provide useful information to understand the enzyme action in the amorphous and crystalline regions of cellulose. It was revealed, that the treatment of cellulose with the cellulase enzyme depends on its concentration, which selectively attacks amorphous cellulose regions. At lower concentration, a random surface roughening of the cellulose foil was observed. With increasing enzyme concentration, the cellulose surface became smoother. On the basis of this knowledge, a conceptual model to describe the conditioning effect by cellulase on the cleanability of cotton fabrics was developed. With the help of this model, we are able to estimate changes in the nanoporosity of cotton fibres. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6812

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Gemini surfactants are most exciting new types of surfactants. They have two hydrophilic head groups and two hydrophobic groups in a molecule separated by a spacer group. Nowadays different types of geminis have been synthesized. Geminis show some characteristic features like low cmc, high surface activity, high solubility in water, good foaming and wetting properties, as well as low Krafft temperature. Geminis imply low eye and skin irritation. These surfactants are widely used as antifoaming and antimicrobial agents. This review paper deals with synthesis, properties and applications of various gemini surfactants. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=6813
