Efficient control of these processes reaquires difficult annalytical work. In this work, the FTIR-spectroscopy by attenuated total reflection (ATR) was used to analyse the changes in the natural matrix of the raw cow hide during tanning and finishing.
TO obtain reliable results and to minimise errors caused by the inhomogenity of samples, five pairs, of samples were cut from the treated hide after every step of the process. Because of result scatter spectrum averaging was used to process the results.
The averaged spectra were subtracted either from the spectrum of a raw hide (standar), or from the spectrum of the sample prepared in an earlier stage. The differential table obtained was correlated to known data.
It was possible from the spectra (except for that of limedhide) to determine changes in constitution of the hide as well as constituents added to the collagen matrix.
Absorption bands of carbonyls, sulphate anion, sulphonates, siliconees and nitro-compounds, as well as the C-H bending of the alkyl chains of added auxiliaries allow identification of the process step and determination of the content off added agents, as well.
The simplicity of the method and results obtained make it very useful as a method for QC and QA in tanning processes.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_ORMSCeDHoWPlZG_r5MMRjZUlWh3uYSg/view?usp=share [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=7950

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The microwave drying of industrially prepared leather has been experimentally investigated on a laboratory scale.
The experiments were performed at three different levels of microwave heating power. Measuring the mass of the sample through the drying duration, the kinetic drying curves were obtained.
For correlation of experimental results the exponential model X = (a - Xeq).exp(-b.td)+Xeq and its differential form has been applied.
Results obtained show a high level of correlation, and a strong relationshp between applied microwave power and drying time (rate), type of leather sample and their pretreatment (vacuum and sidewise dewatering).En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yZCEr06MDmckd9BwEt1FjZWXf66vfC6c/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8196

Tests were carried out according to standard IUC methods (ISO 4047), and microphotographs of cryostat prepared test samples were taken. The leather surface layer was investigated using a UV (ATR) spectrophotometer, thinlayer chromatography and a PIXE spectrophotometer. Examination indicates that the leather is calf-bovine and was vegetable tanned.
Formal suggestions were made for cleaning and preserving the leather wallhanging, it was suggested that the best solution would be to attach (adhere) the historic leather to new leather.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Microscopic examination - Thin-layer chromatography - Analysis by PIXE spectroscopy - nuclear IRB micro-test (of the red glaze)

Wet-salted bovine hide (weight category 35 kg) was treated in an half-industrial environment by conventionally used liming, tanning and retanning processes.
9% offers of five different waterproofing agents were used for the waterproofing process. The levels of water vapour, fats, ash and Cr2O3 were determined for the crust leather. The water vapour permeability, leather porosity to water vapour and absorption of water (measured on both the Kubelka apparatus and the Bally penetrometer) were determined. The water repellency properties of each waterproofing agent were estimated from the results.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uB8WAlL7pxLmIPnHSo5luEG48YxHyahc/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=39770

At the moment, Coratia has six large factories, four medium and a number of small manufacturers, which have not adequately solved the issue of effluent treatment. Details regarding leather processing and consequent pollution in Croatia and individual tanneries are shown in the report.
