Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The continuing importance of blue denim maintains indigo as an important vat dye industrially. In this review, we examine the various methods that have been used in the past and are currently used to reduce and dissolve indigo for dyeing. We discuss recent insights into the bacterial fermentation technology, the advantages and disadvantages of the direct chemical methods that have predominated for the last century and potentially cleaner technologies of catalytic hydrogenation and electrochemistry, which are becoming increasingly important. With considerations of environmental impact high on the dyeing industry's agenda, we also discuss the developments that have led to the production of pre-reduced indigo. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This paper arises from studies aimed at developing new approaches to combining the fabric formation and coloration steps of fabric processing. A key aspect of these studies involved the evaluation of cyclodextrin (CD)-based compounds as hosts for dye molecules that could be released onto a fabric surface following fabric formation. In this study, experimental data from wide-angle X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry experiments were used in tandem with molecular modelling studies to confirm the formation of gamma-CD–dye complex inclusion compounds and to demonstrate the utility of parameterised model number 3 (PM3) semi-empirical molecular modelling methods for predicting the nature of the preferred gamma-CD–dye inclusion compounds. Calculations revealed that the inclusion compounds containing two dye molecules was preferred over the inclusion compound containing one dye molecule. Further, molecular modelling of the inclusion compound obtained using gamma-CD linked to an epichlorohydrin-based oligomer and commercial disperse dyes showed inclusion compound formation to be an energetically favourable process. Titre : A study of novel bisazo reactive red dyes with good wet fastness Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Zhuan Wang, Auteur ; Wu Zu-Wang, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 216-221 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Three series of bisazo reactive red dyes were synthesised using 6-amino-1-naphthol-3-sulphonic acid and its derivatives as the coupling components. The dyeing parameters and wash fastness of these dyes on knitted cotton were evaluated and the relationships between the structure and dyeing properties were investigated. It was found that the hydrophilic groups introduced into the dye molecules decrease the substantivity and fixation of the dyes, but increase the build-up and migration properties. The defined wash-off factor can directly reflect the wash fastness of the dyes and the build-up property can be improved by commercialisation using certain auxiliaries. The results indicate that there is the possibility of synthesising a red reactive dye with a satisfying balance between high fixation and good wash fastness and several such dyes have been developed. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Colour constancy of prints with vat dyes on cotton fabrics was investigated by computing the CMCCON02 colour inconstancy index with the key element CAT02 for chromatic adaptation transform. The results show that the highest changes in colour appearance can be expected when the average daylight is replaced with fluorescent light. If D65 daylight is replaced with some other type of daylight, such as D50 or D55, only minor colour deviations occur which do not substantially change the colour appearance of the prints. The analysis of the influence of the lightness and chromaticity of prints shows that the chromaticity of the samples significantly affects their colour constancy. The change of appearance of the prints with lower chroma because of changed illumination conditions is less probable. The influence of a dye blend composition was also investigated. On average, multi-coloured dye blends have proved to be more colour constant. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : This study confirms the structural changes of nylon 6 fibres using protease by measuring the dyeability, hydrophilicity, chemical changes and fastness properties. For this purpose, nylon 6 fabrics were first treated with different concentrations of protease enzyme in aqueous solutions. The dyeing process was then carried out on the treated fabrics with disperse and acid dyes. Acid and disperse dyes showed higher exhaustion on the enzyme-treated samples. The results of colour measurement in the CIELAB system showed that the darkness of the samples increased with an increase in the enzyme percentage in the solution. The results of moisture regain showed that treatment of nylon fabrics with a proteolytic enzyme caused an increase in moisture absorbency. The wash and light fastness properties of samples were measured according to ISO 105-C05 and daylight ISO 105-B01 and are discussed. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Central composite design was used to optimise electrocoagulation of CI Acid Blue 193 production wastewater. By applying a response surface quadratic model, the main process manipulators (effluent chemical oxygen demand, initial pH, electrical current density and treatment time) were optimised to achieve maximum colour, chemical oxygen demand and total organic compound removals. Analysis of variance indicated that the established polynomial regression models were significant and fitted the experimental data satisfactorily. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Seven new blue-emitting triazine derivatives of 2-aminoterephthalic acid were synthesised, two of which contained a polymerisable group, one a stabiliser fragment and two containing both a polymerisable group and a stabliser fragment. The synthesised compounds were characterised by analytical methods. The ability of four of the derivatives to copolymerise with methylmethacrylate was demonstrated, thus they can be used for obtaining polymers with a whiteness and fluorescence stable to solvents. Two of the compounds, containing a combination of a stabiliser fragment and a polymerisable group, can be used for 'one-step' stabilisation and whitening of polymer materials. All the compounds, possessing an intense blueish fluorescence, are suitable as fluorescent whitening agents for textiles.
