This presentation considers the chemistry of polyester/?-hydroxyalkylamide powder coatings in greater depth. The basic chemical principles of the reaction between ?-hydroxyalkylamides and carboxyl functional compounds and their importance for the practical use of ?-hydroxyalkylamides as cross-linking agents for carboxyl functional polyesters are described. Results regarding UV and hydrolytic resistance of ?-hydroxyalkylamide esters obtained using this system on monomer model substances are given and their significance for practical use of polyester/?-hydroxyalkylamide systems as binding agents in exterior durable powder coatings is shown. |
