Résumé : |
There are three main aspects to take into consideration when judging coatings from a rheological point of view : behaviour at rest, when flowing and during structural regeneration immediately after the application. This article is focussing on the behaviour at rest. The conventional methods are discussed : shear rate controlled or shear stress controlled rotational tests, in which the shear rate or shear stress increases in the form of a ramp to determine the apparent yield point. Another method is described to reveal the elastic behaviour of the sample below the yield stress according to Hooke's elasticity law. Further rheological information can be obtained using oscillatory tests. They should be selected to evaluate the viscoelastic character of measuring samples at rest. |
