The models investigated include the Berns and Petersen method, the modified Berns and Petersen method, the Reniff method, the Rich and Martin method and the R-model developed by Chung et al. In the paper, the Reniff method and the R-model were extended, and all the models were then evaluated using sample sets with different substrates. It was found that the extended Reniff method gave the best training performance and the worst testing performance. The Rich and Martin model, the three-term Chung model and the Berns and Petersen models, all with wavelength-dependent coefficients, gave better testing performance.
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Nanoscale titanium dioxide (TiO2) films were deposited on the surface of polyester nonwovens by using direct current reactive magnetron sputtering. The effect of oxygen flow on the surface structures and properties of the fabrics was investigated in this article. The surface morphology, microstructure, and the chemical composition of TiO2-coated fibers were characterized by atomic force microscope, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effect of oxygen flow on deposition rate, white degree, and light transmission properties of the fabrics with nanoscale TiO2 films were examined. The test results proved that the oxygen flow was a key factor in sputter processing. The deposition speed decreased and the white degree of the fabric increased with increasing oxygen flow. The ultra-violet absorption by the polyester nonwoven fabric with TiO2 coatings was also enhanced as the oxygen flow increased in a proper range. Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Nanoscale titanium dioxide (TiO2) films were deposited on the surface of polyester nonwovens by using direct current (DC) reactive magnetron sputtering. The effect of coating thickness on the surface structures and properties of TiO2 coated fabrics was investigated by atomic force microscope (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis system (EDX), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and antistatic test in this article. The results indicated that the grain sizes of the sputtered clusters increased and the coating layer became more compact as film thickness was increased, but the crystal structure did not have any significant change. At the same time, the film mechanical properties and antistatic performance in general depended strongly on the film thickness which could lead to the optimum thickness for a particular application. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was employed to study the morphology of the nanofibers, respectively. The AFM results indicated a significant change in the morphology of the nanofibers before and after the ITO sputter coatings. The light transmittance and surface conductivity of the ITO-deposited nanofibers were also investigated. It was found that the surface resistivity of the PA6 nanofiber with the ITO deposition had a significant drop and the ITO deposition obviously affected the light transmittance of the PA6 nanofibers. Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A sol-gel and phase separation method were employed to synthesize porous TiO2 coating materials, which were applied to two types of transparent substrates. The coating preparation process is simple, cost-effective, and allows for the adjustment of pore structures. The study investigated the impact of the microstructure, substrate, and UV light exposure on the hydrophilic properties of the TiO2 coating materials. The results indicate that the hydrophilicity of TiO2 coating materials prepared with resin as the substrate is inferior to that of similar coatings prepared with glass as the substrate. Furthermore, the hydrophilic performance of glass substrates coated with porous TiO2 is superior to those coated with dense TiO2. Glass substrates coated with porous TiO2 exhibit superhydrophilicity after 1 h of UV light exposure. The hydrophilic mechanism of the coating material surface was analyzed using surface energy theory, capillary theory, and photo-induced hydrophilic theory.
