Résumé : |
The effects of diol structure of neopentyl glycol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and 1,3-propanediol on the physical properties of hydroxylated polyesters (HPs) are reported here. The HPs were characterised by gel permeation chromatography, viscometry and differential scanning calorimetry. The results indicate that the diol structure has significant effect on the viscosity and glass transition temperature of HPs. The potentialities of these HPs in coating formulation have been studied by developing two pack polyurethane clear coats with diphenylmethane diisocyanate. The performance of these coatings were evaluated by determining their tensile properties, dynamic mechanical properties, adhesion and other empirical coating properties such as flexibility, impact, abrasion, etc. The crosslink density (XLD) was calculated by using dynamic mechanical thermal analyser (DMTA) data. |

- Results and discussion
- The tensile strength values of the coatings follows the order HP200>HP100>HP300
- The pull off adhesion strength value could be an indirect measure of tensile strength
- Results indicate good scratch resistance as well as mechanical strength of coatings |
