Résumé : |
Zinc dust has been used as a high quality pigment for corrosion protection in primer coatings for steel for many years. Two types of zinc particles are produced: spherical and lamellar. Both, alone and in combination, have different influence on the viscosity behaviour, drying time, impact resistance and anticorrosive effect of a paint. This study shows the differences and that the combination of 1/3 spherical and 2/3 lamellar zinc dust have shown the best anticorrosive effect. |
Note de contenu : |
- Zinc coatings are porous
- Zinc primer with CPVC for electric conductivity
- Primer with a combination of spherical and lamellar zinc dust
- Viscosity of primers with spherical zinc dust increases with higher PVC
- Particle shape is important for coatings properties
- Lamellar shape reduces drying time and improves impact resistance
- Panels preparation for anticorrosive tests
- Combination of spherical and lamellar zinc dust improves result of salt spray (fog) test
- Good results in humidity cabinet
- Good adhesion with lamellar zinc dust |
