Polyisoyanate-curable low-solvent waterborne clear varnishes, which provide a high quality surface finish, can be obtained from a 3-pack system using a special mixing strategy. A high-solids, organically dissolved component 1 is premixed with component 2, the curing system, and only then let down with component 3, a binder dispersion. This results in waterborne coatings with VOC content <250q/l even if water-miscible polyisocyanates are not used. Such coatings can be used under various conditions. |
