Résumé : |
There is a rising demand on powder coatings towards ever finer particles. However, such fine powders are more difficult to fluidise. This problem can be overcome bycoating the powder coating particles thermselves with spacer-nanoparticles, thus reducing the attractive van der Waals forces. Here, an innovative process for this particle coating is presented : The spacer particles and powder coating particles are given opposite electric charges and then mixed - both in a medium of liquid nitrogen. The procedure is promising also as a general method for mixing fine solid powsers as well. |
Note de contenu : |
- Reducing van-der-Waals attraction by using spacers
- Electrostatic charge can actively attract different particles - Liquid nitrogen is the ideal mixing medium
- Electrostatic charging with rotor/stator-system
- Nitrogen bubbles can provide turbulent mixing of fractions
- Success of particle-to-particle coating depends on the charge difference
- Improved fluidisation of powser coating particles
- Improved flow requires appropriate particle diameter ratios
- General applicability for solid powder mixing |
