In order to achieve this, plethora of dispersing agents are available in market, which are tailor-made according to the need of particular sector. Paint industry is a major consumer of dispersing agents, because many properties (stability, gloss, performance, etc.) are dependent on dispersion of pigment in binder system. Future trend in paint industry is shifting towards use of water based systems due to advent of concern awareness towards environmental issues, which requires extensive use of these dispersing agents in order to disperse non polar pigments in relatively polar systems. Similarly, uniform suspension of drug particles is basic requirement of pharmaceutical industry and uniform appearance of emulsified food products is very essential for food industry which is possible only with the use of dispersing agents. Their selection, use and performance are dependent on various parameters andhave efficacy to influence properties of final product. This article mainly ocvers various aspects of these dispersing agents which include their mechanism, types and role in paints and some other allied industries. Note de contenu : DISPERSING PROCESS : Wetting - Grinding - Stabilization / Electrostatic repulsion - Steric hindrance.
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR DISPERSING AGENTS : HLB value - Chemical nature of dispersing agent - Biodegradability.
PAINT INDUSTRY : Low and high molecular weight dispersing agents.
COMMON ISSUES SOLVED BY DISPERSANTS : Haze - Pigment flocculation - Sedimentation - Floating or Bernard Cells - Rub up/flooding - Inhomogeneous color - Weather and chemical resistance.
TEXTILE - FOOD - PHARMACEUTICALS - OTHER INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=8988

Revêtements -- BiodégradationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : For sustainable development in the new century, using resources and alternative substrates to the petroleum derived ones has gaines considerable importance. Natural products derived from plant and animal sources form large portion of renewable resources. The renewable resources are significantly important fro mindustrial and economic point of view. Biodegradable polymers derived from natural resources offered a possible solution towards waste disposal problems. The biobased materials are relatively inexpensive, ecocompatible and designed to experience biodegradation. In this paper we reviewed use of renewable resources in the synthesis of biodegradable coatings. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=7378
