Langues : Français (fre) Résumé : Rohm and Haas has been a pioneer in the development of acrylic chemistry for the architectural coatings market since the introduction of the first all acrylic binder in 1953. However, the high gloss segment of this market has proved difficult to penetrate,as solvent-based alkyd technology provides excellent application and initial appearance properties. Implementation of phase II of the EU deco paint directive 2004/42/EEC restricting VOC emissions on 1st january 2010 has provided an extra incentive to make improvements to the previous acrylic technology.
Rohm and Hass has recently completed a fundamental reserach programme, resulting in a new acrylic hybrid binder technology platform, under the trade name hydrotechTM. To achieve the new level of VOC-compliant performance, an additional low molecular weight ambient-curing component has been incorporated into the acrylic dispersion's composition. This additional functionality delivers significant improvements in open time, gloss, flow and levelling, without compromising the excellent film properties of the pure acrylic, such as exterior durability, hardness and low yellowing.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=2824

These unwanted dirt deposition on structural materials change aesthetics of the product and its functionalities. Cleaning is usually recommended ton maintain desired appearance, which is time consuming and costly. The present work describe an easyway to formulate self-cleaning hybrid coatings, which are design to improve or even reduce the cleaning step, and explore their potential applications on metallic substrates The coating was formulated by incorporating natase TiO2 nanoparticles into silane based resins. While the morphological analysis was performed by SEM (scanning electron microscope) technique, the photocatalytic activity was checked by evaluating the oxidation ability to destroy ethanol under UV (ultra violet) light exposure and contact angle measurements were performed to determine the hydrophilic nature of the coatings.
